Hamid was born in Tehran but entered the U.K. at the age of 8 months, completing his studies at Trinity Hall, Cambridge University. He returned to Iran in 1972, entered military service, played for Iran`s National Hockey Team at the 1974 Asian Games, then entered the private sector. After Iraq began bombing Tehran in 1980 He took his family via bus to Turkey and then Germany, where he established several commercial enterprises during the ensuing two decades.
In 2000 he returned to Iran and first headed a German bank, then a major gas equipment trading company. In 2017 he emigrated to Spain. He is busily writing novels and poetry, with 3 works published and several more in various stages of completion, including a screenplay based on the novel “In Whom We Trust.”
